Notes - They lived near Cobden then near Bells Rapids. Great g. Thos is suppos to have died in Pembroke General Hospital was first buried at St. Patricks along with other *** family members later bodies removed to Cobden about 1910 - 11 - 12 Now for a tale. Elizabeth "Liz" wife of Frank Edwards 1852 - 1918 undertook to drive a team to Bells Rapids to tell the family of the death of their father. I believe she drove a team on a sleigh with a baby which she was likely breast feeding. On arrival at the Edwards home in Bells Rapids she found great grandmother Jane (Hare) sons Robert and Albert (who drowned the following Nov 1886) and son Thos who had just died. So Aunt Liz returned with his body followed by his mother and 2 brothers to my Grandpa Thos Burgess (Sarah's husband) home. Likely by that time the fathers body was at the same house as had died im Pembroke General Hospital the same day. Thos L Burgess lived about amile from St., Patricks Chapel where the burial took place. That is why I heard this story from Grandpa Burgess. Sister Margaret Edwards was married and living close by at Snake River as her husband Frank Berry was a CPR conductor. The Berry homestead is near the Cobden livestock Sales where my husband Allister was born and we spent our first twenty-five years. Sister Jane Edwards married to Stephen Allen lived somehwere near, later moving to Thessalon. I haven't much information about Robert the other brother. He married and I knew his daughter Ethel (Mrs. Ed Gilmour) of Smiths Falls but not his son Arthur of Winnipeg. From my father Henry Burgess I was told that Frank Edwards husband of "Liz" who drove to Bells Rapids, was very concerned to put his family together in the Cobden Cemetery near his home so about 1900 Dad helped him remove the remains of Great grandfather Thos Edwards, son Thos son Albert and maybe Robert (I'm going to research that name with our Cobden cemetery official and let you know) to the Anglican part of Co bden Uni Cemetery hwy 17. They are near the Berry plot at the front. Aunt Margaret Berry cared for great grandmother Jane till she died in 1920. She was bedfast when I saw her in 1918. So frail and tiny.
There is only Robert Edwards of this connection living near Cobden on Frank Edwarfds homestead. Other Edwards are very distantly related but don't know their ancestry too well. (given to May Prange by Viola Johnston)
