Fay Bennett nee Francis is the daughter of Herb and Gladys (Bates) Franci s. She was born in 1957 and except for University days and a few yea rs in Renfrew, she has lived her life in Cobden, Renfrew Co., Ontario. S he grew up in a home where keeping touch with family was a high priorit y. As a child, the Sunday afternoon outing was a car ride to the Franc is homestead in Admaston Twp. to visit Aunt Em, Ellsworth & Ena; or to t he Francis homestead in Bromley Twp. to visit Uncle Charlie and Aunt Essi e.
Fay began compiling the Francis family tree in High School with the he lp of her father and her Uncle Clinton. Her interest in genealogy continu ed to grow. She is a member of several genealogy groups and has been acti ve in the local group in Renfrew County serving in various position s. At present she is the Editor of their newsletter, TIMBERLINE and s he is researching the early pioneer families in the townships surroundi ng Cobden.
Her genealogical writings also include the cooperative effort on the Fra ncis Family with cousin J. Allen Francis and a book on her mother's Engli sh Roots.
Fay's grandparents, Elisha Francis and Mary Ellen Smith were both deceas ed when she was born but she was often reminded that she is the image of G randma Francis. Gt grandparents were Stewart Elisha Francis and Annie Ton er who homesteaded in Bromley Twp. Gt gt grandparents were Elisha and Mar garet Ann Ferguson who homesteaded in Admaston Twp.
Her husband Earl and their two daughters Kristy and Tania do not share t he same enthusiasm about family history but are often caught in the midd le of a stop at a graveyard to check on some dates.
Fay attended Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario and received her Ba chelor of Science in Physiotherapy, 1979. She has worked for the pa st 10 years as a Physiotherapist for the local Community agency that provi des Home Care services and is currently the Rehab Manager of the Program.
