COBDEN SUN OBIT (HAZEL PURCELL CLIPPINGS) Wilson Blackwell On May 29, 1929, Wilson Blackwell purchased the property at 36 Main St., Cobden from Robert McKibbon and operated the Blackwell Shoe Store. Wilson?s wife Emily was deceased by that time. Wilson Blackwell was the son of William Blackwell and Margaret Mason, was born on 17 Sep 1874 in Ross Twp., Ontario, died on 16 May 1950 aged 75, and was buried in Cobden Union Cemetery. Wilson married Emily McIntyre, daughter of Samuel McIntyre and Mary Graham, on 28 Dec 1898 in Haley?s Station, Ontario. Emily was born about 1874 in Douglas, Ontario, died on 13 Mar 1924 in Bromley Twp., aged about 50, and was buried in Cobden Union Cemetery. They farmed in Bromley Twp., Ontario and had four children: Samuel Ormond, Kenneth Wilson, Bernice Graham and Marjorie. Wilson next married Sarah ?Sadie? Smith, daughter of Joseph Smith and Ann Jane Haley, on 6 Oct 1932 in Westmeath Twp., Ontario. Sarah was born on 13 Aug 1885 in Westmeath Twp., died on 3 Dec 1954 in Pembroke, Ontario, aged 69, and was buried in Cobden Union Cemetery. 5 Wilson?s son Sam took over the Shoe Store.
