  Rev. Hugh J. McAlister and the McAlister family trace their Pentecost heritage to the Argue revivals in Winnipeg in 1907. Having received Spirit-baptism as a young man, Hugh followed in his father John's footsteps and entered Pentecostal ministry. He was ordained in Alberta in 1924 and pastored in Edmonton, Calgary, and Saskatoon. He later moved to Ontario and pastored at St. Thomas, Pembroke, Peterborough, and finally the Stone Church in Toronto. He was District Superintendent for Eastern Ontario and Quebec from 1943-1945 and served on the General Executive of the PAOC. A great leader of the national movement, Hugh was instrumental in bringing Billy Graham to Toronto for a crusade in 1955. A few months later, Hugh died suddenly and unexpectedly.
