Notes - Alexander McDonald Jewellery Store (Fay Bennett)
In an article in the Cobden Sun from May 1920 states A. McDonald's jewellery store currently occupied the building. Alexander was the son-in-law of John Delahey. He is listed as a jeweler and living on Main St. in the 1901 census for Cobden. An advertisement indicates that Coxford & Taylor were his successors in 1907.
Alexander McDonald, son of George W McDonald and Clementine Chalmers, was born on 27 Aug 1877 in Renfrew, Ontario and died about Apr 1912 in Port Arthur, Ontario aged about 34.5 Alexander married Ida Delahey, daughter of John Delahey and Susan Hill, on 8 Oct 1900 in Cobden. Ida was born on 25 Jul 1876 in Cobden, was christened on 25 Nov 1876 in Cobden, died in Nov 1959 in Ottawa, aged 83, and was buried in Cobden Union Cemetery. They had two children: Marguerite Delahey and Doris Isabel Delahey.
